Born in 1977 and currently based in Tokyo, Japan, Tomoko works internationally as a music composer and producer of site-specific projects. By intervening in the relationships between people and their environments, she weaves diverse narratives into multilayered music and questions what is home in today’s society. In search of music that is contemporary and folk at the same time, she collaborates with marginalized groups and specialists from different disciplines and creates works in various media, including concert walks, interactive installations, and ritual performances. Tomoko is the director of “minori-majorite travel” and the founding board member of “Japan Association of Composers for Sumo Hearing Arts.”
